Latin Name: Didelphis marsupialis Conservation Status: Least Concern
Distribution: Mexico to Bolivia  
 

The Common Opossum will rival an average cat in size. They are omnivorous, eating fruits, vegetables, insects, frogs and birds. During the day, it can be found sleeping in the trees, while foraging and hunting for food at night. They are hunted in some parts of South America as food.
