The New Zealand Long-tailed Bat, and long-tailed bats in general, are also commonly known as pied bats and wattled bats. There are two species of bats living in New Zealand, and the New Zealand Long-tailed Bat is the more numerous of the two. These nocturnal mammals are quite small, with tiny ears, and are a medium brown in colour.
